Tessai Tsukabishi is a tall, muscular man employed by Kisuke Urahara at his shop. Like his boss, he is actually a Shinigami who once held the position of Captain of the Kidō Corps. Similar to his friend Urahara, he was exiled and now resides in an untraceable gigai while assisting at the Urahara Shop. Tessai is a quiet, stern, and level-headed individual who often disciplines Jinta's childish behavior but has a sentimental side. He is deeply loyal to Urahara and takes great care of the shop, even shedding joyful tears if someone compliments his work. Conversely, he becomes extremely irritated when Soifon dismisses it. Tessai is known for purchasing TV-advertised medicines, which sometimes don't work or have unpleasant side effects, much to Urahara's dismay. He is one of the few who find Orihime's unusual food ideas tasty, alongside Rangiku Matsumoto. Physically, Tessai is a large, muscular dark-skinned man with square-shaped glasses and an enormous handlebar mustache. He is usually seen wearing a white shirt and blue apron, though during his time in Soul Society, he wore an ornate dark robe over standard Shinigami attire. In the past, Tessai was the leader of the Kidō Corps in Soul Society. His exile to the Human World resulted from using a forbidden spell in an unsuccessful attempt to capture Aizen. Currently, he serves as Urahara's personal assistant in both business and other duties.
