Sergeant Tashigi serves as a Naval officer under Commodore Smoker. Initially introduced at the rank of Master CPO when the Straw Hat Pirates arrive in Loguetown, she is skilled in sword fighting but notably clumsy, once nearly stabbing herself with her own sword. Tashigi is highly knowledgeable about famous katana in the world of One Piece, recognizing their names and origins. She wields Shigure, a Wazamono-class sword.
Tashigi's primary goal is to reclaim all Meitō, named swords with prestigious histories, from those who would misuse them. After encountering Roronoa Zoro, she set sail with Smoker to pursue him and the rest of the Straw Hat crew. She bears a striking resemblance to Kuina, Zoro's deceased childhood friend.
