Red-Haired Shanks is a legendary and powerful pirate in the Grand Line, serving as the captain of the Red Haired Pirate Crew and one of the Four Emperors in the New World. He is also Monkey D. Luffy's childhood hero and a former member of Gol D. Roger's crew. Despite his friendly and easygoing nature, he commands great respect from many characters in the series. Shanks rarely engages in combat, with his most notable fight being against Whitebeard. Although he doesn't appear frequently in the series, he is often featured in the opening or closing themes of the anime.
Shanks typically wears a long black cape over his shoulders and, until meeting Luffy, wore a straw hat that he had for many years. His trousers are cut below the knee, and he wears sandals. The most distinctive feature about him is his red hair, which earned him the nickname "Red-Haired Shanks." He has three scars across his left eye, given to him by Blackbeard in the past. Shanks lost his left arm while saving Luffy from a Sea King. Shanks and his crew are often seen partying and drinking whenever they make an appearance, reflecting the Captain's love for hosting and attending parties and banquets.
