He oversees the Navy's operations from his base in Marie Joie, and answers only to the Gorosei, the leaders of the World Government. He also has a pet goat. The name "Sengoku" can be written in kanji to mean "warring states," which refers to a period in Japanese history. As an admiral twenty years ago, he entrusted the Golden Den Den Mushi to Spandine, enabling the Buster Call on Ohara. He appears to dislike the Shichibukai, similar to Vice Admiral Smoker. Sengoku is regarded by Whitebeard as one of the few people who truly know the seas since the time of Gold Roger.
He resigned from his position following the war with Whitebeard.
