Shortly after her introduction, she engages in a sexual encounter with Kurono Kei. This act seems to lack any specific motive (other than his request and her comment on his attractiveness). However, as Kurono demonstrates bravery and intelligence during the Buddha mission, Sei becomes increasingly intrigued by him. Prior to the mission's second phase, she proposes to Kurono that he become her boyfriend. Upon his agreement, she promises to take him for a drive in her car once they return.
Following the demise of most of the Gantz Team at the hands of the Buddha Temple boss, Sei recognizes that Kurono's affections lie elsewhere—specifically, with the late Kishimoto. As the boss approaches, she queries Kurono if he would love her should she defeat the adversary. After hearing his response, she confronts the alien both alone and unarmed. Despite managing to wound the alien, Sei ultimately fails to vanquish it and perishes while protecting Kurono.
When Kaze prompts Kurono to choose whom he wishes to revive, Kurono briefly contemplates between her and Kishimoto. Ultimately, he opts to revive neither and instead brings back Nishi Joichiro.
