Typically assuming a leadership role due to his authoritative presence, Katou struggles in the game of Gantz because he finds it difficult to harm others.
Katou was Kei Kurono's childhood friend. They reunite on the day they both die when Katou tries to assist a drunk person off the train tracks, with Kurono reluctantly offering help.
He met his demise during the Rateiin temple mission, but in the manga, he is later brought back to life by Yoshikazu Suzuki following the Oni Alien mission.
