Sakazuki, also known as Admiral Akainu (formerly Vice Admiral Sakazuki), is one of the three Admirals in the world of One Piece, subordinate only to Fleet Admiral Sengoku. His name translates to "Red Dog" in English. During the timeskip, Sakazuki became the new Fleet Admiral, taking over from Sengoku.
Akainu firmly believes in "Absolute Justice," which led him to destroy a refugee ship on the mere suspicion that even one scholar from Ohara might have boarded it. He argued that if any scholar escaped, the mission would be considered a failure. This extreme action was criticized by Aokiji, who deemed it excessive. As an Admiral, Akainu commands a vast number of Marine troops and has the authority to order a Buster Call attack on any island. Given his rank, he possesses fighting abilities comparable to those of Kizaru and Aokiji.
Akainu's Devil Fruit ability allows him to transform his body into magma.
