Age: 25
Rishid is Marik's adoptive brother and the second-in-command of the Ghouls. He was abandoned as a child and taken in by Marik's mother before Marik was born. However, Rishid's father never accepted him as a legitimate heir and treated him more like a servant than a son. Despite this, when Marik was born, his mother asked Rishid to look after his younger brother, which he did even when Marik turned to evil.
Although Marik and Rishid were close siblings, Rishid harbored resentment towards Marik for being the true heir to the tombkeeper clan and the legitimate son of their parents. Once, when Marik was bitten by a cobra and became ill, their father beat Rishid for allowing Marik to be harmed and ordered him not to leave Marik's side until he recovered. In a moment of desperation, Rishid took a dagger to Marik's room intending to kill him in his sleep, but upon hearing Marik murmur "brother," Rishid dropped the weapon, realizing how much Marik valued him as family despite their lack of blood relation.
When Marik expressed fear about undergoing the initiation ritual, Rishid tried unsuccessfully to stop their father from forcing it on him. Failing that, Rishid scarred his own face with a dagger to share in the pain and prove his loyalty to the family. When Marik unknowingly developed a dark split personality, Rishid was the only one who could restrain Dark Marik and shield Marik from knowing about his darker side and its crimes. After helping Marik and Ishizu escape outside once, Rishid's father attempted to kill him for betrayal. Upon witnessing this, Marik's anger allowed Dark Marik to take over and murder their father (or send him to the Shadow Realm in the English anime), but Rishid survived and managed to calm Marik down, making his dark side disappear again. To protect Marik from the truth, Rishid lied that Shadi, who appeared afterward, had killed their father under orders from the Pharaoh.
During Battle City, Marik had Rishid pose as him, but he fell unconscious after playing a copy of The Winged Dragon of Ra during his duel against Jonouchi. He later awoke during the final battle between Dark Marik and Yugi, helping Marik overcome his dark alter-ego and regain control of his body.
