Appearance:
Paulie is almost always seen with a cigar in his mouth and his distinctive flame-patterned denim jacket. However, during the Post-Enies Lobby Arc, he wore a black jacket adorned with roses and chains. His hair is blond and slicked back, and he often wears orange goggles on top of his head. He usually has a frown on his face.
Personality:
Paulie is depicted as being the closest and most trusted by Iceburg. He also holds a unique perspective on how female characters in One Piece dress. Unlike many other characters such as Sanji, Paulie frequently expresses outrage at the amount of skin shown by women like Nami and Kalifa when they are around men.
When introduced, he attempts to steal two suitcases full of money from Luffy to settle his gambling debts. Despite being stopped by Lucci, he still demands 10% as a service fee.
Fighting Style:
Paulie's fighting style is unique, involving an intricate use of ropes that emerge from under his sleeves. The length of rope he carries is immense, measuring hundreds if not thousands of meters. He once created a complex rope structure in mere seconds to save himself, the entire Franky Family, their Kingbulls, Oimo, and Kasshii from falling into a massive pit in Enies Lobby. He proudly claims that the Galley-La rope he uses never breaks, no matter the load.
When attacking, the ropes typically snake out from his sleeves and wrap around his target.
History:
On the opening day of the Puffing Tom, a young Paulie attended its inauguration, which inspired him to become a shipwright. As he grew up, he joined the Galley-La Company and eventually became one of its top foremen.
Paulie first appeared to the Straw Hats as one of the five Galley-La foremen at Dock 1 in Water 7, specializing in masts and rigging.
