The 'Special Zombie' known as Oars is the 900th creation by Dr. Hogback for Gecko Moria. This massive, horned creature dwarfs even normal giants. In his previous life, he was called 'the Demon of the Frozen Land,' having once conquered and ruled numerous countries and islands over five centuries ago. His resurrection as a zombie is a significant event for the Thriller Bark crew. To make Oars the strongest zombie ever, Gecko Moria implants Straw Hat Luffy's shadow into Oars' body.
With Luffy's shadow inside him, Oars' attacks resemble Luffy's techniques (Gomu Gomu no Scythe, Gomu Gomu no Volcano). Initially, he cannot stretch his body, but this ability is gained when Gecko Moria takes control. Despite his enormous size, Oars moves incredibly fast, almost vanishing before launching an attack. Small amounts of salt have no effect on him due to his size.
Oars is eventually defeated through the combined efforts of the entire Straw Hat crew after several failed attempts. He is ultimately killed when Gecko Moria absorbs the shadows of all the Thriller Bark zombies.
