yoshikawa nao

Protagonist of the series. She is often a bit air-headed and easygoing. When her grandfather had a stroke, her father decided to move to the countryside to take over the family farm. Since Nao still had one semester of high school left, she convinced her parents to let her rent an apartment and live on her own, at least temporarily. To her surprise, she discovered that someone else had rented the same apartment: Hisashi Uehara. The landlady suggested that Nao and Hisashi could live together, which would make the rent cheaper, and they agreed. Initially, Nao didn't realize she liked Hisashi until her friends gave her some advice. She starts dating Hisashi later in the story. By the end of the manga, Nao and Uehara have to move out of their apartment because the landlady's son returned from America and wanted to rent a room for himself and his girlfriend. When Nao agrees, she begins looking for other apartments suitable for two people. She learns that Uehara wishes to live alone to become more independent. Although initially shocked and upset, she respects his decision. Eventually, they find out that they are living next door to each other, thanks to the help of their previous landlady and Nakatsugawa.
