A popular and good-looking guy, unsurprisingly with a bunch of fangirls. Indeed, he secured a spot in the school's "Top Three Hottest Guys" for three consecutive years. He lives with Nao due to a rental mishap. Known for being aloof and antisocial, he achieves straight A's effortlessly. His mature appearance often leads people to believe he is older than he actually is. In Good Morning Kiss, it is mentioned that he bears a strong resemblance to his mother. Both of his parents passed away when he was still an elementary school student. For six years, he had harbored deep feelings for Yuri but was heartbroken when she married his older brother, despite knowing about his crush. Later in the story, he starts dating Nao. He becomes visibly upset or jealous whenever Abe appears unexpectedly or when any boy spends time with Nao. Despite his cold demeanor, he gradually opens up after starting a relationship with Nao Yoshikawa. In Chapter 15, to make him confess his feelings for Nao, Yuri hides Nao in her room and asks Uehara why he avoids coming home. He admits it's because he likes Nao and that, although his initial reason for leaving home was heartbreak over his brother's marriage to Yuri, he has since moved on and wants to be with Nao. Nao accidentally slips down, and he hears her. After Yuri leaves, he tells her he really meant it. His feelings are not reciprocated until Valentine's Day, when they officially become a couple. He lies about his age to secure a job and has a surprisingly large appetite. By the end of the manga, he and Nao move into different apartments because the landlady of their previous apartment wanted to rent out rooms for her son and his girlfriend who returned from America. When they agree, Uehara tells Nao he wants to live alone to be more independent but reassures her they will never be apart. This leads to a rumor spreading across town that Uehara proposed to Nao. He clarifies to Nao that he did not propose but wants them to stay together. When they move into their new apartments, they discover they live next door to each other, thanks to the help of the previous landlady and Nakatsugawa.
