Musse was the daughter of Calgara on the island of Jaya, living 400 years ago. She was a beautiful and intelligent Shandian woman.
When their dying priest had a 'vision,' he declared that the only way to stop the "curse" afflicting their land was to sacrifice their most beautiful woman. Musse willingly went to the altar to save her people. Just as their god was about to devour her, Montblanc Norland appeared and killed the giant snake, convincing the Shandians that the plague was curable and not a curse from the gods.
During the time Norland spent searching for a cure, both Musse and his men were locked up in cages. She spoke to Norland's men about their captain. After a desperate struggle against time, Norland returned with the cure, saving the Shandians. Freed and now aware of the truth, Musse was later seen sobbing in her mother's arms over the events that had transpired.
However, her tribe discovered that their sacred forest had been cut down by Norland and his men, leading to their ostracization once again. Musse explained to one of Norland's crew members why the Shandians were treating him this way. Upon learning that the forest was the source of the plague, she rushed to inform the villagers. They rang the golden bell as hard as they could to convey their regret to Norland. Her father, Calgara, hurried to Norland before he and his men set sail to ask for his forgiveness. Three years later, Musse married Seto.
