A young female officer who collaborates with Megure. Her father, also a police officer, was killed in the line of duty when she was only six years old. Her former partner, Matsuda, died due to an explosion. She first appeared as a cameo in Volume 19 of the manga or Episode 130 and was properly introduced in Volume 21 or Episode 146. She is tough, energetic, and a dedicated police officer whose "dates" often turn into police investigations. Yet, she can also be lively and cheerful. Sato is very popular among the male members of the police department, but to their disappointment, she begins to develop feelings for her colleague Takagi, albeit hesitantly. She has come to value Conan's assistance in several challenging cases and trusts his judgment completely. She senses that he is no ordinary boy and accepts him as part of the police team.
