Mashiro Kuna previously served as the lieutenant of the 9th Division under Kensei. She is known for her somewhat scatterbrained personality and has a tendency to throw tantrums over minor issues, such as Orihime befriending Hachi or Kensei's insistence on joining his subordinates in battle while they were still part of the Gotei 13. Her fashion sense is reminiscent of the superhero costumes seen in late 1970s Japanese tokusatsu shows. She often refers to Ichigo as "Berry-tan," a playful twist on his name. In keeping with her tokusatsu theme, Mashiro's hollow mask closely resembles an insect's head. On her first attempt to control her hollow, she managed to maintain her hollow mask for fifteen hours, which meant she did not need to undergo the same training as the other Visoreds and Ichigo.
