Appearance
Magellan is a large man who greatly resembles a devil. He has bat wings and a gargoyle-like face. On his head, he wears horn-like ornaments that can be pulled out and used as weapons. Beneath these horns, he sports short black twintail-styled hair. He towers over an average person significantly. His teeth are very sharp, and his hands resemble those of Blue Gorillas.
Personality
Magellan has a unique issue due to the powers of the Doku Doku no Mi. He enjoys consuming poisoned food, which does not harm him but causes severe diarrhea. As a result, he spends about ten hours each day in the bathroom. He suffers from agoraphobia and prefers dark, enclosed spaces. Despite spending only about four hours on duty due to his dietary habits, he takes his role seriously and does not tolerate bad behavior from prisoners. With permission to execute any prisoner he deems necessary, he shows no hesitation in using his Hydra's lethal poison. Magellan takes pride in Impel Down's reputation for being impenetrable and felt personally insulted when Monkey D. Luffy tarnished this record. He finds amusement in poisoning or suffocating those he dislikes, as shown when he chuckled after releasing poisonous mist towards Hannyabal. Though intolerant of "poisonous" comments, he often uses them himself. His ruthlessness extends to his own men, as seen when he berated a guard accidentally poisoned by his Hydra. Despite his stern demeanor, Magellan fell for Boa Hancock’s beauty and neglected his duties when she requested to see Ace immediately.
Abilities and Powers
As the warden of Impel Down, Magellan has full control over the prison. However, due to his frequent bathroom breaks, he spends most of his time there. Considering he sleeps approximately eight hours per day and accounting for meal times and breaks, he only works for about four hours daily. Nevertheless, he holds the authority and power to execute any prisoner at will.
Devil Fruit
Magellan ate the Doku Doku no Mi, a Devil Fruit that allows him to generate and manipulate poison. He can produce poison in various strengths and forms, such as minor gas to discipline subordinates, tear gas bubbles to stun opponents, or highly lethal liquid poison. His most notorious technique, known to all prisoners, is the Hydra—a three-headed dragon composed of corrosive liquid poison causing lethal nerve-paralysis and melting victims simultaneously. The Hydra easily defeated the Blackbeard Pirates with minimal effort. Thanks to the fruit’s powers, Magellan can eat poisoned food without dying; instead, it flavors his food. However, this causes severe diarrhea, a problem since he loves eating poisoned food.
