lai lan

A beautiful and popular girl attending the same school as Hak Lung and Kurumi, she seems to harbor jealousy towards Kurumi for reasons unknown. Her name in Cantonese translates to "beautiful orchid."

Lai Lan is actually engaged to Hak Lung. Realizing that Hak Lung's heart belonged to Kurumi, not her, fueled her desire for vengeance. She attempted to assassinate Hak Lung, even going so far as to plead with the leader of the White Tiger Organization for assistance. This act led her down a dark path, resulting in her being sold into prostitution. Despite Hak Lung rescuing her from this fate, Lai Lan's resentment towards Kurumi only grew, as she craved Hak Lung's affection. Concluding that the only way to hurt Hak Lung was to rob Kurumi of her virginity, Lai Lan devised a sinister plan.

She manipulated Kurumi into believing they had become best friends, then systematically sent boys, whom she rewarded with sexual favors, to try and rape Kurumi. They nearly succeeded, but Hak Lung intervened just in time, aware that Lai Lan was orchestrating these events. In front of Kurumi, Hak Lung ended Lai Lan's life. Even in her final moments, Lai Lan continued her deception, uttering kind and sympathetic words to convince Kurumi of her innocence and genuine care. This tragic scene caused Kurumi to despise and fear Hak Lung, viewing him solely as the man who murdered her one true friend.
