Kūkaku, born on October 1st, is a fireworks expert known for her fiery temper and uniquely themed homes. During the Bount arc of the anime, she mentions being the same age as Kisuke Urahara. In the anime, she wears a prosthetic right arm, contrasting with the manga where she is depicted with only a stump. Kūkaku helps Ichigo and his friends by launching them into Seireitei using her special Kakaku Cannon. She belongs to the former noble Shiba clan. Before the main storyline, a hollow fused with her older brother Kaien, leading Rukia Kuchiki to kill him. Although Kūkaku does not appear to be a shinigami, she possesses high-level kidō skills and carries a short-bladed sword on her back.
