Tall, bald, and muscular, Kukai stands as the largest and most powerful member of Team Kuu. Despite his imposing size, his facial features are typically soft and relaxed, giving him a monk-like appearance. He wears a standard white martial arts gi without sleeves and a beaded necklace, which is actually his madogu.
Most of the time, Kukai maintains a calm and relaxed demeanor, rarely showing any signs of extreme emotion. He is laid-back, preferring to relax in the grass rather than attending formal events like the tournament's opening ceremony. Kukai is also easy to befriend, quickly forming a friendship with Recca before their teams faced off in the ring, and remaining just as friendly with Team Hokage even after Team Kuu's defeat.
However, all these characteristics disappear once his madogu is activated. In this state, Kukai transforms into "Kukai the Buddha," a demonic fighter who relentlessly attacks his enemies until they are defeated. This was evident when he nearly beat Recca to death during their match. Despite this transformation, the real Kukai remains aware of his actions and can still have pure intentions while in this state.
