shimotsuki koushirou

Koushirou is the name of Roronoa Zoro's teacher and Kuina's father. He owns a dojo near where Zoro grew up, where he trained Zoro. Koushirou is mostly seen in flashbacks, but he makes a brief appearance in Chapter 440 when one of his other students asks if he truly was Roronoa Zoro's teacher. He expressed his wish for Zoro to achieve his dreams. It is implied that Koushirou can cut steel, following the principle that a swordsman who can cut nothing can eventually cut anything, including steel. He tried to teach this to Zoro as a child, but it wasn't until Zoro was 19 that he mastered this skill. It is revealed that Koushirou once helped the Revolutionaries by providing them with food and supplies in Shimotsuki Village. In a flashback, he is seen talking with a man with a large face (possibly Emporio Ivankov) after dark. Monkey D.
