numabuchi kiichirou

Numabuchi Kiichirou, who grew up in Gunma Prefecture, was a serial hold-up murderer involved with the Black Organization. Initially hired as one of their assassins, his mental instability soon made him unsuitable for that role. Instead, he became a human test subject for the new APTX 4869 poison, under the supervision of Miyano Shiho. Although Shiho had his file for detailed medical study, she never met Numabuchi personally; aware of his impending fate, he fled from the Black Organization. During his escape, driven by panic, he murdered several people he suspected were pursuing him from the Black Organization. While he might be seen as a psychotic serial killer, in the series, Numabuchi appears more like a frightened victim. Though he kills without hesitation, it is mostly out of fear and desperation to regain his freedom. He shows a sensitive side and a fondness for children when he rescues Mitsuhiko from a dangerous situation involving his attempt to surprise Ayumi and Haibara with a special gift.
