Jidanbou is the gatekeeper of the West Gate, known as Hakutoumon, which leads to the court of pure souls. He wields twin axes in battle and is noted for his considerable strength. However, he struggles with emotional stability, becoming distraught after Ichigo breaks his axes. Jidanbou learned the rules of Rukongai from Kaien Shiba. He is the older brother of Jirōbō Ikkanzaka, who was formerly the 4th seat of the 7th Division.
