Hody Jones is a great white shark fishman, serving as the captain of the New Fishman Pirates and formerly a soldier in the Neptune Army. He is an ardent admirer and follower of Arlong's ideals. Hody possesses a deeply racist, hypocritical, prideful, brutal, and vicious nature. Like many of his kind, he harbors intense hatred towards humans, believing they abandoned Fisher Tiger to die when he could have been saved (though this is false, as Tiger refused human blood due to betrayal). This belief fuels his attacks on any humans within reach. Similar to Arlong, Hody considers fishmen to be the superior race, demonstrating his arrogance by attacking Gyro's crew while his hands were cuffed, proving that even with such a handicap, they could easily be defeated. He then deliberately released the injured but alive crew members, instructing them to spread the word about the power of the New Fishman Pirates. While both he and Arlong looked down on humans, Hody's treatment of them is even more ruthless than Arlong's. He views his human captives as expendable pawns, whereas Arlong would leave humans alone so long as they paid their "tribute" money regularly. Arlong mainly killed humans to make examples of them when they failed to pay and was generally content to let them live otherwise, aside from occasional acts to assert dominance. In contrast, Hody uses humans as disposable parts of his plans, almost ensuring their deaths, and threatens to kill them outright if they refuse, offering them very little chance of survival.
