Hiyori Sarugaki previously served as the lieutenant of the 12th Division under captains Kirio Hikifune and Kisuke Urahara. She considered Hikifune a maternal figure, which made it difficult for her to accept Urahara as her new captain. Hiyori is characterized by her small stature, blonde hair styled in pigtails, and a fierce temperament. Her outfit includes a red jogging suit adorned with the kanji for "monkey," reflecting her surname. Additionally, she has a tiny fang visible on the left side of her mouth. Known for her violent tendencies, she frequently assaults Shinji Hirako, often slapping him with her sandal or using him as a human shield, a behavior that began during her time as a lieutenant despite Shinji's higher rank.
Among the current Visoreds, Hiyori took the longest to conquer her inner hollow, aside from Ichigo who took about the same amount of time—69 minutes and 2 seconds. Her zanpakutō has a standard appearance but features a tsuba decorated with small hearts, contrasting sharply with her tough personality. She typically wears her sword slung over her right shoulder, similar to Ichigo. Her hollow mask resembles a typical hollow's mask, complete with a prominent horn and pink stripes along the top.
