Grand Fisher is a Hollow who managed to evade the Shinigami for over five decades and was responsible for the death of Ichigo's mother, Masaki Kurosaki. In the anime, he has a preference for eating women, which led to the death of Ichigo's mother. However, in the manga, his preference is for children, with Masaki merely getting in the way. In his Hollow form, Grand Fisher looks like a giant hamster with bird-like hands and feet, and a tentacle-like appendage hanging from his forehead, resembling an anglerfish's esca. This lure can take on human forms, often mimicking one of his previous victims. It operates independently of Grand Fisher, ensuring that he cannot be purified as long as either the lure or Grand Fisher himself remains intact. In battle, Grand Fisher uses his angler to keep opponents at bay rather than attracting them. By transforming the angler into a replica of someone close to his enemy, he prevents them from attacking, knowing they will hesitate to harm the decoy. He can also extend his hair and fingers into spikes to stab enemies or restrain them. When his hair and claws pierce an enemy, they absorb their memories, allowing him to create lifelike copies of their loved ones or friends to use as shields. Outside of combat, the angler helps him distinguish individuals with high spiritual power from ordinary humans, making them easier targets. After being defeated by Ichigo, Grand Fisher is transformed into an imperfect Arrancar by Iceringer and used as an experimental subject by Aizen. In his Arrancar form, he appears as a larger, more humanoid version of his former self, with a tattooed face visible between his jawbones. He wields a massive zanpakutō on his back, nearly as tall as a two-story building. Upon unsheathing it, he transforms into a colossal, monstrous creature with bull-like horns, and his zanpakutō grows to the size of a skyscraper.
