Kisaki Eri is the mother of Mouri Ran and the legally separated wife of Mouri Kogorou. Eri works as a lawyer and frequently becomes involved in Mouri's cases, often providing an additional perspective during crime investigations. Despite her dissatisfaction with Mouri's behavior and habits (particularly his drinking and womanizing), she remains deeply in love with him and cares for him immensely. She frequently tests him to see if he still has feelings for her. Eri and Mouri, much like Shinichi and Ran or Heiji and Kazuha, were childhood best friends who fell in love during their teenage years. She is naturally inquisitive and often gets involved in case investigations alongside Mouri, much to his frustration. She owns a Russian Blue cat named "Goro," whom she cherishes deeply. Eri is also very close with her secretary, Kuriyama Midori. Eri is highly intelligent and observant, and her skills as a judoka, taught by Mouri, prove useful on many occasions. She has demonstrated her ability to contribute significantly to solving cases, with her deductions being almost always accurate. Ran frequently seeks Eri's advice, especially regarding her relationship with Shinichi. Eri has jokingly advised Ran that getting involved with a detective might not be the best idea.
