Cabaji is the second mate in Buggy's crew and their primary swordsman, known for combining his sword skills with acrobatics, often performed on a unicycle. He engages in combat with Roronoa Zoro shortly after being introduced, fighting dirty by kicking Zoro's wounds whenever possible. However, once Cabaji is knocked off his unicycle, he is swiftly defeated by Zoro's 'Oni Giri,' which leaves a gash across his chest.
After Buggy's crew was defeated by Luffy, Cabaji competed with the 'other' first mate, Mohji, for the position of the next captain. Both were knocked unconscious by Richie, who briefly held the title while sleepwalking. Nevertheless, Cabaji resumed his role when Buggy reappeared.
During the attack on Loguetown, Cabaji joined Buggy and Alvida to confront the Straw Hats and the Navy. Despite his desire for a rematch with Zoro, he never got the opportunity to face him again.
