Admiral Kizaru is one of the three Admirals in the Marines. His name translates to "Yellow Monkey" in Japanese, while his real name is Borsalino. He was first mentioned by Robin during the initial encounter with Aokiji. Kizaru is a middle-aged man with a few wrinkles on his face. He has been seen wearing a yellow-striped suit under the standard Marine's coat. He also wears sunglasses and has a portable Den Den Mushi on his wrist. Standing at an impressive height, he is about as tall as Aokiji. The design of Kizaru's character resembles the famous Japanese actor Kunie Tanaka. Kizaru's personality seems to be a blend of the laid-back Aokiji and the ruthless Akainu. Like Aokiji, Kizaru appears very relaxed and easygoing, even in surprising situations. For instance, when a pirate fired a gunshot at him, he remained focused on calling his subordinate and didn't seem bothered. Instead, he asked the offenders where his subordinate was. After uprooting a mangrove tree with a kick, he laughed it off, noting that he might have used too much force. He remains calm and collected, even in tense situations, such as when Basil Hawkins appeared unharmed by his attack or when Rayleigh showed up. However, he can be somewhat absent-minded and irresponsible, as evidenced by his excessive use of power and mistakenly trying to call Sentoumaru with a black Den Den Mushi, which is only for intercepting communications. He prefers to be called by his original name, Borsalino, rather than his alias. On the other hand, similar to Akainu, Kizaru shows a ruthless side towards criminals, especially pirates. He plans to capture Silvers Rayleigh, who had retired from piracy over twenty years ago, simply because he was the first mate of the Jolly Roger Pirates. Following the events on Sabaody Archipelago, Kizaru captured 500 pirates out of spite. Like Smoker and Sengoku, he views the Shichibukai as mere pirates, regardless of their alliance with the World Government. As an Admiral, Kizaru commands vast numbers of Marine troops under his rank and has the authority to order a Buster Call attack on any island. Kizaru possesses the Pika Pika no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that grants him the power of light. As a Logia user, he can let objects pass through him and reconstruct his body from energy particles. His speed is comparable to light, and his attacks are based on light, such as firing energy blasts from his fingertips or feet. His abilities are highly destructive, causing massive explosions and easily destroying buildings.
