van augur

"The Supersonic," first appears in Jaya, shooting down seagulls from such a great distance that the Straw Hat Pirates, who were watching, couldn't even see the island he was on. Van Auger remains calm and analytical even during battle.

Auger's name might also relate to the Latin word "augur," which refers to a fortune teller who studies the flights of birds to predict the future. This could be symbolic since we first see Auger shooting down birds and explaining that it was "fate" for the bird to be killed.

"Auge" means eye in German, which might be another reason behind his name.
