A young traffic enforcer named Asami is tasked with safeguarding the Mall and protecting a group of survivors taking refuge there. She speaks in the third person, substituting "I" with her name, reflecting how Japanese police often refer to themselves this way, though she hasn't fully mastered it yet. Initially, Asami's authority among the survivors diminishes due to her easily frightened nature until Kohta and Takashi step in, giving her a standard police firearm and boosting her confidence. Her admiration for Kohta grows after he assists her in subduing a civilian who was about to sexually assault Shizuka.
Later, Asami joins Takashi on a mission to obtain blood plasma for an ill survivor and is forced to mercy kill Tamaru after he gets bitten by "them." Holding onto hope that her superior officer, Matsushima, who left for help at the police station, would return, Asami is devastated when she sees a zombified Matsushima approaching the mall. This shatters her optimism. In deep distress, she runs to the mall's roof, where an elderly couple she had previously helped praises her, rekindling her spirit. Encouraged by Kohta, she decides to join him and his friends, which she happily accepts.
After escaping the mall with the group, Asami tries to save a terrified student trapped in the parking lot. Though she successfully distracts the zombies long enough for the student to escape, she ends up trapped herself without any means of defense. Upholding her duty as a police officer, she sacrifices herself by drawing the zombies' attention away from the group. As they close in on her, Asami pleads with Kohta not to let her become a zombie. In her final moments, she tearfully confesses her love to Kohta while saluting, as he aims his gun sight at her from afar.
