Her specialty lies in channeling spirits, even from places where ordinary shamans cannot reach, such as heaven. In the English anime adaptation, she is referred to as a "spirit medium." After being abandoned by her birth parents due to her abilities, Anna was adopted by Kino Asakura. Consequently, her exact date of birth and blood type remain unknown. Anna is both aggressive and decisive, traits that complement her beauty and sharp wit. She often comes across as cold and harsh, but she genuinely cares for those close to her, especially Yoh, who was her first true friend. Dedicated to becoming the ultimate Shaman Queen and Yoh's wife, she pushes him to train rigorously, believing he is destined to become the Shaman King. Her spiritual strength is evident in her ability to seal and control Hao Asakura's guardian spirits, Zenki and Kouki. Although Anna despises Hao, their relationship is complex; Hao once expressed interest in making her his bride, though this has never been confirmed. Some speculate that Anna might be the reincarnation of Hao’s mother from 1000 years ago, Asano-Ha. Despite her seemingly harsh treatment of Yoh, Anna loves him deeply. This was shown when she broke down crying during a battle with an oh-oni while Yoh was possessed by Tokagero. She can also be possessive, reacting jealously when Yoh asked Tamao Tamamura to cook for him or when she mistook his Oracle Bell for a woman's pager. Anna attends Shinra Private Academy alongside Yoh and Manta. Her favorite singer, Ringo Awaya, is a nod to Japanese musician Shiina Ringo. Additionally, Anna serves as the mascot for the Aomori prefectural police, reflecting her creator Takei's origins in Aomori, where Anna herself is also born. Eventually, Anna marries Yoh, and they have a son named Hana Asakura. However, several years before the events of Shaman King: Flowers, both Yoh and Anna are mysteriously killed.
