Alvida is first introduced in the first episode of One Piece as a plump female pirate captain with freckles covering her face. Coby, a boy with pink hair, works for her after being captured by Alvida. She frequently asks, "Who is the most beautiful woman in the world?" and expects everyone to answer with her name.
After Alvida and her crew are defeated by Luffy, she consumes the Sube Sube fruit (Smooth Smooth), which allows attacks to slide off her body. Her freckles vanish after eating the fruit, and for some reason, her figure transforms. When she reappears in episode 46, she is depicted as an attractive beauty.
Following her defeat by Luffy, Alvida teams up with Buggy to seek revenge on their common enemy, staying aboard Buggy's ship. During the brief period when Buggy is captured by the Marines, she takes charge of his crew.
