Gunnm Chapter 27 Discussion

Well that was a short chapter. The factory defense is trying to deal with Zapan to no avail. I must admit that the giant desert eagle looking gun was pretty badass, but it proved useless against Zapan. He destroyed that entire unit with ease as he continues to look for Alita.

Alita is preparing bullets with the breakdown compound that Desty gave her along with the gun. Some of the people from the scrapyard come to hound Alita and throw rocks at her while blaming her for their misfortunes due to Zapan's destruction. They beg her to sacrifice herself to end Zapan's rampage. Alita is baffled that humans are that weak and that they choose to accept it and actually find solace in their weakness instead of overcoming it. Alita begins to walk off and the mangaka uses a biblical quote here as the people reach up to Alita to show that she's above them in a godly way.

                        She's actually the only one that has a chance of taking down Zapan, not only because of the dissolver bullet, but also because I think Zapan wouldn't kill her on sight like everybody else, but instead want to make her suffer a bit, and that will give Alita a chance to get close and shoot him.
