I adore this story. It's ridiculously funny, and yet incredibly cerebral all the time, because of the MC navigating his way through this maze of absolute death. And by death I mean twisted affections, and by that I mean yanderes lol. The premise is pretty straightforward, but the story quickly shows just how serious it is. Yandere harem can be all fun and games, until you realize that those yanderes ACTUALLY have the power to end the world. All of them. Every one of them. Suddenly it's not a worry about being stabbed, it's about all existence ending lmao. But DUE to that, I really desperately want to know how it ends lol. I haven't been this invested in praying for the protagonist in a long time. I truly hope he and everyone gets a happy ending, and very aptly, that's what his stated goal is - he's literally trying to get the happy harem ending, because it's the ONLY way the world won't end. And things that are often glossed over in other stories are actally brought up and discussed (and dismissed, for real reasons). Like how many times have you just facepalmed and wondered 'why doesn't the MC just properly explain' or 'why doesn't he just tell them' or 'he's going through so many extra hoops he doesn't have to'. Well, there are distinct reasons why he can't let them know. And that leads me to something that I have to vent about. I really actually feel sorry for like half the cast at this point. The MC pretty much hasn't been able to actually act on or even FEEL his own emotions at this point, and if you look deeper, it's pretty damn tragic. Due to the nature of the world ending yandere harem, he literally can't choose one (as ANY of the others will end the world). So he can't feel favorites, and he cant even let them believe they're not the one-and-only. So frankly, he acts like a piece of sh*t, intentionally and knowingly. He's a total player, and is the very definition of a scumbag cheater. And yet through it all, we really don't know who he actually likes. That subtle tragedy aside though, the comedy is intense. He big-brains his way through everything, and fortunately we get a ton of his internal monologue (with a few spirits that he can converse with to provide internal dialogue) to show what he's actually thinking and feeling. Also, the System is an utter riot. It's a huge troll, and the sheer depths of sh*t he gets into is wildly hilarious. Not to mention, that sometimes, the MC, despite being supremely competent in terms of social navigation, has moments of where he just utterly fails at communication, and it's hilarious. He's also a very reliable narrator... until he suddenly isn't at all, and you realize just how human he is lol. Finding and picking out those moments of him being an unreliable narrator are wonderful. But yeah, I honestly only have 1 regret, and that is that I'm now caught up, and the book is only half-translated. As mentioned, I'm super desperate to find out the ending, and it will be a long time before it's finished! (It's finished in it's Country of Origin).100% recommend. Pretty much the only thing that is a negative for me is that as mentioned the MC himself has no big feelings of romance ('yet' - that's why I can't wait until he can actually let himself feel things without the world ending). The pressure on him is immense.
