Regression Is Too Much Chapter 66 Discussion

The bad:

* The pacing is WAY TOO SLOW. Small spoiler: Spoiler

* The author seems to have an obsession with leaving no loopholesplotholes in the story, which in theory is good but in practice, it doesn't work very well bc he gives us a info dumps to prevent them from happening.

* the MC seems to always want to experiment every time he reaches a new floor so he tries different ways of completing them to see which way gives him the best reward, but this further slows down the pacing. And again, in theory this is good bc he can get the most out of each floor but in practice, it doesn't make the story more enjoyable at least for me.

* as of chapter 66, this is a mostly a solo novel. Yes MC has friends but even when they are right next to him, they don't get that much screen time, which is a pity tbh. FMC is a pretty interesting character but she barely shows up, much less talks.

If I had to compare it to something, it would be a chinese murim novel, where MC travels around the world, mostly alone, he meets people, hangs with them for a while and then goes back to traveling alone.

This makes 80% of the novel the MC talking to himself.

The good:

* I complained about the loopholes and info dumps earlier, but I admit that they are really well thought out. The way the author makes sure the MC can or cannot exploit the system is pretty well written

* the MC is pretty good and smart (maybe even too smart). His development and slowly changing views is interesting

* fMC is pretty good as well and I wish she showed up more.

* the tower and the floors aren't just "kill everything in every single floor" it is more complicated than that. Each floor seems to have a unique scenario that needs to be solved, and at the rate this is going, it seems like each floor also has a hidden scenario that further complicates the floor

* the way the tower, the players and the real world affect each other is pretty interesting and I wish we got more of that

I'll continue reading a while longer to see if it improves, it has a lot of potential but if it keeps going at this same pace, I think I'll stop
