I give it 4.7 stars. It's a relaxing read and I am grateful to the translators for doing a great job 👏 The MC has no special cheats or powers. He's realistic about adapting and making his own happiness. I like that about him. He uses what he knows about cooking, farming, and the little he can recall of the novel to help him pursue a better life for the original poor, side character he has become. The original side character was barely mentioned in the novel. Only telling of a life of hardship and loneliness. There is a nice balance of good, annoying, and bad relatives or people.

The MC transmigrated after dying and taking over a side character in a novel he read with the same name. The original passed away from illness and a bad mother. He knows he needs to turn his luck around and begins building better relationships with those who are good to him. The original story was about a ML who becomes a general after feeling rejected by original side character. MC recreates a way to properly reject him to continue that ML's future directory. MC then looks for another ML for himself to find happiness and this is where MC's life has moved beyond the novel he read. The original ML is rarely heard of again and almost forgotten. The rest of the story has turned to about MC just living his life and his relationships with the people around him.

I am waiting for rest of the chapters and hope it moves forward more in plot. The author wrote a lot of filler stories which can get boring or tiresome to read through.

There's an ongoing joke about how MC's ML and brother-in-law can't cook. The author should have just told this joke once and allow the characters to develop. Unfortunately, author used this old joke many times for humor. I believe any person can learn to cook basic, uncomplicated foods, but author enjoys the extreme of starving characters because of how bad they cook. Another old joke is coming up with naming babies. Out of a bunch of names they use generic labels. Author also carried on a lot about child raising anecdotes. And my least favorite was throwing away the cloth diapers. I understand if MC can't stand reusing diapers, but he should have allowed those who were willing to clean them to take them. There are expensive services in today's society that offer clean cloth diapers for conscientious parents and will take away and clean the dirty, cloth diapers. I found this stinky diaper joke unrealistic and not funny.
