Towards the end, the ice block ML melts as he and his son fight against psycho male rival for the MC's attention. Anyway, ML was never cold to the MC and always helped her when she was in a pinch. Sometimes he would help directly (like the time when he asked the emperor for her hand in marriage) and other times he would help from behind the scenes (like the time when he saved her from marrying into a family that was blackmailing her father). The main difference that the MC initially sees between him and the PMR (Psycho Male Rival) is that he wouldn't hurt others while trying to help her while PMR would not even notice that others are being hurt or would consider that a bonus.

About the male leads: there's a bunch of princes that are grandsons of the current Emperor.
ML is one of them, close to the Crown Prince's house.
MC's good cousin (there's a despicable shu cousin) is a side-wife to the Crown Prince's (eldest?) son.
Tianyi is the (di?) son of the strongest prince, the man is even worse than him, he has two annoying (shu?) brothers. Tianyi has a heart disease because he was poisoned as a child. The two brothers usually buse him.
As I said, he is the abusive type.
He is ruthless, like most typical ML, black bellied but the fact he is depitcted as a psycho is more realistic than most novels where the ML has all the psycho treats but never abuses physically the MC.
I think the author might deliberately construct Tianyi as a statement that she doesn't condones romanticising the "black belly" type of ML. The way he constantly sneaks into the MC's chambers, how they stablish a relationship based on the sexual tension they have, etc. are usual traits of this novel's genre for the actual ML.
There is the Crown Prince's son, Xiao Yan, the one the cousin is married as a side-wife:

He is no way better than Xiao Tianyi, he's even worse. The way he keeps pushing MC around just continues to escalate with every chapter. He is so repulsive that MC doesn't even have a small hole in her heart to harbour any feelings except hatred towards him.
I'm so glad I saw this one coming from miles away.
He is portrayed as a fine & fair man at the beginning, but all he does is collect beauties. He trully treats women as objects & thinks they must be happy & thankful that he wants them in his home. Of course, he wants the MC and after a period of subtle pursuit he starts openly proposing to her, going behind his wife & side-wife and constantly ambushing her, disregarding the fact she is an unmarried girl (I also tend to ignore how ephebophile ancient men were, specially when they start eyeing her when she's only 11 & start pursuing her when she's around 13... ugh).
When Ouyang Nuan rejects him (a few times) he feels insulted, of course he can't understand why a beauty don't want to be one of his btchs, I mean: side-wife.
Later, after he has used everyone as a pawn so his father can become Emperor and he can be the Crown Prince, he tries again to force MC to marry into his house. This time he has the complicity of the main wife and everything happens after MC & cousin have returned from hiding away.
At the time, MC's cousin has realized how they all been played, but Xiao Yan keeps faking he is a good man.
I bet this is the part when the ML plays his cards & marries MC to save her from that scumbag.
Well, so far, he's already started harrassing her. And he can give no fks about whether his main wife is plotting to kill his son birthed by MC's cousin.

They first trick the cousin (Lin Yuanxi?) into getting some stuff that actually makes her unable to concieve (& eventually infertile), so the main wife can get pregnant first & the cousin doesn't recieve enougj favor.
After Ouyang Nuan solves it (without letting the cousin, since she's too innocent & gentle, know), she (or someome, it doesn't get solved) schemmes again making her believe she's pregnant so they can later punish her for liying to the prince with a fake pregnancy.
4.When Tianyi's father side start their rebellion, she gets to escape with the MC, but the poor thing has fallen for the scumbag, even though she knows she has few chances to ever get a better status/treatment if they all survives. By then, she's just a pawn being protectef because she's pregnant and she may have a boy (the main wife's child was a girl).
Then there's Lin Zhi, her cousin (brother of Crown Prince's son's side-wife).
He genuinly falls in love with Ouyang Nuan, he respects & tries to protect her, however, when he confesses, he gets rejected.
Lin Zhi understans why, even though he tries to insist into annuling his marriage agreement with another house's lady, and he ends up doing the "right" thing for the Marquees house.
Also, his father is the Marquees' heir or current Marquees. He is being schemmed by one of his shu brothers, and poioned to death.
Lin Wenyuan (?, that shu brother) is a power-hungry bastard that constantly tries to schemme against the MC too. His daughter is that annoying shu cousin, Lin Yuanru and they are in cahoots with the evil-step-mother, because they belong to the same side of the family.
There are Chen something and Cao something too.
Chen something has a stupid & conceited sister that falls in disgrace as a consequence of trying to abuse the MC.
After the Great Princess' banquet (kind of MC's social debut), that capital's first beauty (Ke Rong) gets stuck because her car has some problems. The Chen girl insists on lending her car to her (sucking up, since she is a junzhu), but as soon as Roung girl is safely gone, she corners Ouyang Nuan into giving her own car to her, like she's the only one with a curfew. MC gives her a couple of opportunities to refrain (she knows evil step-mom has a plot to kill her & her brother on the road back home), but Chen girl is too selfish.
They all get into an assassination attempt back home.
Chen girl serves as a decoy, but they still try to murder them because MC feels pressured to intervene (Chen girl tries to run away & that puts her in more danger).
The thing is, MC knows they won't kill her as step-mom only wants her brother dead, so she can torture her. The plan is to steal an intimate object so she can frame her & make her loose her reputation.
But that's not the first time she tried using personal objects to force marriages on MC.
Chen girl ends up loosing her reputatiom, when step-mom's plan backfires (they steal her item, not Nuan's), and she has to marry far away to slavage het reputation, so the brother becomes obsessed with the MC, since he blames her for the whole thing (even though he & the family know it's the Chen's girl fault for being spoiled & stealing someone else's carriage).
Chen boy has another love-hate obsession with MC, he schemmes against her but later becomes a pawn for ridding MC's of an unwanted marriage.
Cao something is a good-for-nothing leecher.
He accidentally meets the MC while she is dragging Tianyi along. Tianyi has been disguising as a servant of the Marquees manor (MC lives there for a while after she gets injured in a sort of assassination schemme, I think), but MC knows & uses that to force him to do hard labor in hopes he'll learn how tough peasant's lives are. He sneaks into her room one day (he does that constantly), and after confronting her, she gets hims dressed as a girl and brings him outside.
Cao Gongzi believes he is a lady and he falls for Tianyi. MC lies and tells Cao Gongzi that's her Yanrou (annoying shu) cousin. So later she takes advantage of that when she gets in trouble, as a way to get rid of him.
Yanrou ends up married to this Cao Gongzi.
Here is where my mind gets confused.
The Cao Gongzi marriage is a punishment from the emperor to Lin Wenyaun, because he is trying to climb the royal family branch and marry Yuanrou to Tianyi.
Previously, that Chen lady was also trying to become Tianyi's main wife, by the way.
I forgot what is exactly the schemme that Lin Wenyuan & daughter try to put on MC that ends up with the emperor using the information about Cao Gongzi being infatuated with the annoying cousin (Yuanrou, however he is thinking about Tianyi), to decree that marriage.
Later, Cao & annoying Yuanrou team up with that Crown Prince's son's main wife to make Lin Yuanxi (nice cousin) unable to concieve.
I forgot if Yuanrou dies, but Cao is used later. He schemmes to rape the MC, but the MC knows and turns another schemme aginst her step-sister Ouyang Ke, so Cao ends up raping her & getting her pregnant.
However, the MC uses this to rush Ke's marriage to Su Yunlan (her husband from the first life).
Su Yunlan is another conceited scum.
He feels entitled to everything & the way her mother tries to push herself into MC is disgusting.
The main idea (both lifetimes) is to downgrade the MC by forcing her to marry lower. Su family are merchants, not nobles.
What comes later in the first round, is the fact Outang Ke gets obsessed with him. So, since Su Yunlan is only using the MC, he actually accedes to date Oouyang Ke behind the MC's back & participate in the schemme that made her an adulterer.
The thing is, Lin step-mother wanted to marry Ouyang Ke into one of the princes' houses or into a noble house, at least. So in this life-time she gets super mad when Ouyang Ke tells her she loves Su Yunlan & wants to marry him.
Also, this time around, since MC's character has slightly changed & she is indifferent to the whole Su family, Su Yunlan gets obsessed into getting her. He's also a little bit delusional at times, and his annoying mother doesn't help either.
The way Su furen tries to win Ouyang Nuan over from the start is nausiating. The MC realizes how naïve she was in her first life precisely because is not hard to see that woman is planning to fool her into marriage. Is actually nice & refreshing to see how Ouyang Nuan keeps brushing them off and deliberately avoiding them, without the need to openly state they are delusional to try to match her status.
Su Yunlan even gets to ambush her, after coincidentally meeting on the streets, and tell her the same exact speech about how he will love her & never have concubines from the first life. The way she rejects him is priceless.

Yes, Sun Luoning had been after MC ever since she entered. After the miscarriage, she starts messing with her & the Crown Prince's main wife, with the help of her adoptive Great Princess mother & her Yuanxin cousin.
She gets Zhou Crown Princess disfigured & her closest servant (the one that lured her to the Crown Prince's study) gets killed by a leopard.
