MC has a cousin who married a rich guy in a nearby city. The cousin and her husband were the ones who first gave her money to invest in developing her cotton fields and farms. Later she also started a high class inn (5 star hotel type) along with her cousin's husband which is the business that she retained.
The ML lived in the same house as MC and siblings. The villagers were mostly uninterested because her third aunt was also living there and the proprieties were maintained. Later the ML saved the village from a wolf pack and noone criticised him after that. After it was revealed that he is a general, the villagers were happy for MC for marrying up and also said that it was expected that someone with such good martial arts would be someone important.
Third aunt's in laws later came to try and create trouble by taking her back home. They were hoping to use the 3rd aunt to blackmail MC into giving them money and benefits. MC made sure that they sent third aunt back home by using public sentiment against them.
