Thank you so much for the spoiler as always I love how you give the spoilers by summarizng the chapter in your own way rather than put MTL-ed chapter as it is. Its easier to understand
Thank you so much for the summaries I really hate Kyla as a husband to Rosaline but I'm glad he's not a garbage father. I love Rosaline but I hate that the author probably made her and Kyle endgame
i mean tbh if i was albert i would've done the same. i would do anything - even lie - to make sure rosaline wouldn't end up with such a trashy b@stard.
edit: nevermind. i read about albert/jade and now i just wish the men in the novel would drop dead
Woahhh 1 more chap? Im glad i guess coz it means this story is to the point and not giving unecessary plot just to prolong it. Thank you for your hard work giving us spoilers
Rosaline returns on a ship with her son and a man named Albert. Albert is the baron that rules over the village she currently lives in. She met him by coincidence when she first arrived, and he helped her settle in and has always been very kind and helpful to her. He said he would accompany her to the funeral because he has relatives on the continent he wanted to visit anyway.
Rosaline arrives at the funeral and notes that the it seemed a bit shabby for someone who dedicated his life to wealth and glory. She thinks it's ironic that he died in vain. She meets her mother, who seems legitimately upset. On the other hand, Rosaline doesn't cry at all and wonders if she's being too cold-hearted. She really only came back for her mother.
As they're talking about what happened with the embezzlement and murder, her mother catches sight of Leo and asks who he is. After realizing he's Rosaline's son with Kyle, she's shocked and asks if it's sane to raise the child without a husband. But Rosaline insists he's hers and he doesn't need a father to be happy. Her mother wants to argue, but the priest starts the ceremony, so they have to drop the discussion.
This is from an earlier chapter, but it's referenced in chapter 20. When Rosaline debuted into society at age 16, she went to a masquerade party. Before the debut, when she would practice dancing and whatnot, her father would abuse her if she messed up. At the party, she keeps stepping on her partners' feet while dancing and is scared how her father will react. She goes out to the garden to rest and cry. Kyle finds her outside and he's kind of rude at first but tries to cheer her up. He offers to help her practice by having her stand on his feet as they dance around. When it's time to go back, Rosaline steals his mask to see who he is and runs away. That's the only time he was ever nice to her, and she didn't tell him who she was because she was afraid he wouldn't remember or react badly and ruin her only beautiful memory with him. After failing to catch up to Rosaline at the pier, Kyle returns to her parents' estate to ask them again if they knew where she went. Her mother says they don't know and even if they did, they wouldn't tell him because they agreed to respect Roslaine's wishes. At this point, her father chimes in that he didn't agree to the divorce, but he really doesn't know where she went, so there's nothing he can do.
Kyle leaves and starts walking around aimlessly. A woman on the street asks if he wants to buy flowers for his lover. He goes back to Rosaline's home to ask her mother what her favorite flower was. Her mother is bewildered and responds that she didn't really like flowers. She liked big trees.
This reminded him of something (Rosaline mentioned that she liked trees more than flowers when they first met at the masquerade). And he runs back home and starts digging around Rosaline's room. He finds a small locked chest and inside is the mask she stole from him at the masquerade. Realizing who she was, he drops the box and stands there dumbly in shock, calling out her name and asking himself if she really left him.
POV switches to Rosaline and starts with her leaving the monastery and going back to her parents. She tells them she wants to divorce and they look at her condescendingly and say that's absurd. Her father starts scolding that he doesn't care if it's a couples fight and that once she has children... But Rosaline cuts him off and says she's infertile and she told the duke that and asked for a divorce. Then her father smacks her and calls her a crazy b1tch.
