(BL) The Wife is First

  • #10
Recap 3

The main character is prince Jing Shao/JS.
He called his princess consort Jun Qing/JQ, which I'm going to use coz his mtl name is mu zhang something.
Jing Shao eldest brother is prince Jing Chen, they had same mother.

Jun Qing fell to water during winter when he was a kid. As after effect, he was unable to learn martial arts. He told Jing Shao that it was an accident but JS didn't believe him. JS started his own investigation n found out the truth. He planned to avenge his wife.

He also told his wife to call him 'Shao' in private.
'But...' JQ felt that was improper. So he asked if JS had nicknamed. When he kid, JS was called 'little spoon'
JQ thought that it was cute.
JS was embarrased.

The house account book should be handled by JQ but the concubine tried to keep it with her. She failed. JQ found that the account didn't match the treasury.

JS spread rumour about fourth prince, Jing Yu (ah, those Jings really remind me of Nirvana in Fire...). People were talking that 4th prince eat baby flesh, placenta etc.

During court assemble, JS watched the officials n imperial family members who betrayed him in original timeline.

The court then discussed the rumor. 4th prince actually ate raw fish. It was a tribute and actually only emperor could enjoy it. So he got light punishment. JS was satisfied. The result was better than his expectation.

i actually picked up this story bc it's one of the veeeeery few BLs with a somewhat legit explanation for socially accepted gay marriage in a historical setting

basically, it's tradition where the uncrowned princes must marry men and only the crown prince can marry a woman. this is to ensure that they can't have any recognized offspring = symbolic gesture signifying that they can’t compete for the throne with the crown prince and his children. the uncrowned princes of course can take women as concubines, but children from concubines have no rights to anything
ML is the son of a concubine (i can't remember but i think his father is a royal official or something) so he just got matchmaked to marry uncrowned prince MC

anyway, i ended up dropping bc the writing and characterization didn't suit me, but it's such a good concept. i can totally see game of thrones bl version having something like this

It’s fantastic!! Just need to make a website and keep going  . If you don’t want to make your own you can probably find a good host. Like Ainushi or something. Heck even I would host you. Anything for more BL novels!!!!

Hmmm...I wonder why I thought that? I was pretty much reading the spoilers so I have to go back and check if there's a rivale mentioned.
Yes the Song Madam is the wife who betrayed JS in his first life.

I have tried the MTL route before but I really enjoy the translations by CG team so I tend to wait for the releases while obviously lurking around here for spoilers.... I'm worried me attempting to MTL chapters will result in me hating it because halfway it won't make sense to me.

I finsihed MTL this a month ago, and since it's MTL I almsot forgot all the plots and characters LOL

The eldest prince is a son of concubine iirc, while the 4th is the son of the 2nd empress (current empress), and 2nd and 3rd are from 1st empress.

Fu ren song, you meant, the second wife of Jing Shao, right? I had to think for a moment, 'Who is Fu Ren Song? Is there a character with that name?' LOL
I dont think she was banished before they went to the war, demoted/forbidden to go out of courtyard. She is always making scheme. Her power in the household decrease but that doesnt stop her to scheme. I forgot what happen to her, but she will get her bad ending, along with her father. Jing Shao is determinde to punish that scheming father in law. I think they both get the 'off with their head' ending for treason.
You can read more in early pages of this thread, the spoiler is quite lot.

What rival? I dont think they have 'love' rival.
