In a typical fantasy story, the hero would swoop right in and save the day. But this is not a typical fantasy story. The saving would have probably had to happen much sooner anyways. I'm glad puck is here to shed some innocence in this grim world, but Guts is what's necessary to actually cause change.

I felt sorry for the doctor and also how Puck wanted to help him....

Well, Guts is hiding his emotions after all. I wonder how long he will be able to keep fighting alone.

This is already pretty great. I'd heard that the series didn't really get good until the Golden Age arc, but I'm liking this so far. Guts is already a pretty fascinating lead, loved the scenes at the execution and afterwards. The idea that he sees a lot of himself in the doctor was pretty cool. "I won't fail, like you". I'm thinking the ghosts tried to possess him near the end?

Yea, I figured Gatts might help but then I remembered what kind of manga I was reading lol
