This troll arc is probably the worst arc in Berserk and the introduction of Magic has been really poor as its changed the whole approach to how the characters fight, and as something that was just introduced, it feels like an ass pull.
Man, I can't shake from my mind the possibility of Guts following in Griffith's footsteps and sacrificing his allies. I think his dark thoughts about Casca and subconsciously wanting to harm her and his desire to use the Behelit kind of hint at that. Would he end up doing it? I don't know, it depends on if he loses himself to the darkness or not.
