                        Wounds (2)

Volume 9

[Pg.211-230]

End of Volume 9. I wonder what it's going to take for them to be together. What sacrifices will be made in order to get Griffith out of the prison? And what happened to Princess Charlotte?

What a tragically beautiful chapter. The way Casca lay there baffled as Guts fell apart, not truly understanding what was going on, when she asked if Gambino assaulted Guts so he killed him and Guts pounded the try and shouted, "No!" -- that is one of the most realistic moments of drama I've ever encountered in animanga. That was so utterly powerful. Guts' breakdown and Casca's solace was perfect.

This is absolutely a perfect end to volume 9, maybe better than the end of volume 8 was.

Always found this scene heartbreaking. Guts finally allowing Casca to get close enough to him.

To be honest all this was so emotional...

Finally Guts breaking free... Or something like that.

But his trauma with Gambino comes out right at that moment because it really is something that affected him a lot inside, too much, in fact.

It could already be more or less glimpsed from quite a bit behind, but Guts is a great guy at heart.

All this scene between Guts and Kasca is wonderfully made. The two broke free, at least for the moment...

Huh, more sex. More warrior-esque pillow talk. More childhood trauma. As expected. Reading this still makes me feel as if I'm imposing on Guts' intimate life, but...

Eh, I'm glad that Casca lent him an ear and consoled him after his little anxiety attack. And I liked the mutuality that was expressed -- Casca saying she and Guts were "finally even".

Also, this is the very first time we've seen (adult) Guts cry -- in the entire manga, SAVE for the time he shed a tear after meeting the God Hand in the expository chapters. So, seeing Guts cry to this extent definitely felt out-of-character. But in a good way.

Anywho, I think I've seen enough Guts-on-Casca for one day. I'd personally like to get back onto the battlefield now, hehe.

A nice end to volume 9 (Even thought the scans I have have this as the beginning of volume 10...). The romance between Guts and Cazca really is something. Is adorable, in the good way.

Ok now what the fuck that was BEAUTIFUL. Such raw emotion from Guts you see the man pouring his heart out for the first time in his God damn life and then you have someone like Casca who is in love with Guts and sees how many blows he's taken for her, so in this fit of emotional consoling, she wants to shoulder his past traumas so that she can make him realize that he doesn't have to be afraid to be open. I want a love like Guts and Casca have

As much as the flashbacks may have "ruined the moment" according to some people here, in a way I'm glad it did. This chapter was absolutely incredibly well done, one of the most emotional romance scenes I've ever seen,  I'm blown away.

Read this already but just coming back to say that is is one of the greatest romances I've witnessed in fiction, not just from Japanese media.cartoonartist said:
That's just a continuation of what was going on in the last chapter - fanservice with some dialogue to let it be genuine.

"fanservice", you're fucking kidding me right?
