Berserk Chapter 102 Discussion

This chapter hit me like a truck, I've never been moved to such anger by a piece of fiction before. Miura is an absolute genius and I hate him for it.

This was one brutal chapter.

This is the first chapter of any manga I have ever read that legitimately made me feel so sick and angry. I'm not saying the chapter was bad. I'm just talking about the intense emotional reaction that this chapter induced. I sincerely doubt there will ever be a character in a story that I want to see dead more than Griffith. When I first started reading this manga I thought Gutts was a complete ass who I couldn't relate with on any level, but this chapter in particular has helped me to understand Gutts's rage very well.



As for the guy saying the mangaka has a rape fetish, this was obviously meant to be a raw display of pure evil in order to get us to really hate Griffith. It was meant to be deeply disturbing, and it in no way resembles other bodies of work that legitimately fetishise rape aside from the fact that a rape takes place.

This was one fucked up chapter. Jesus

Griffiths heart had to be beyond cold to do this to someone he once considered a friend. Torture? Not even any honor in trying to make the sacrifice quick and painless? If this is how he treats his friends..I'd hate to see how "Femto" treats his enemies.

Seeing GUTS crying hit me hard and made me tear. He witnessed the most filthy things to his lover in front of his eyes. FFUUUUUCKKKKK MANNN!!

This chapter was filled with rape... the most disgusting chapter I've ever read

Was that really necessary, Griffith? Jeez.

Like I said above, these past few chapters have been nothing more than rape hentai. The plots starting to get a bit repetitive and chaotic.



Really, it's just bodily fluid flying everywhere and Casca moaning for dozens of panels in a row. Why isn't she resisting more? She's probably in shock and exhausted, but the idol she's always looked up to has just been reborn as a literal demon king, and her primary love interest Guts is mutilated and watching. She could've struggled a bit more or expressed some slight dissatisfaction.



At this point, I've grown numb. I have the exact opposite reaction as all these people saying "WTF" and "I'm crying." Nothing means anything anymore in this manga.



And "if you don't like it, don't read it" is not a valid excuse, either. M'kay, I do like the manga, as do tons of other people. But they're allowed to express dissatisfaction when a talented manga author makes the wrong choice, or when tropes start to become redundant. I'm not discontent with the edginess or vulgarity -- I just think the entertainment value is starting to decline. What was an intricate political epic has been reduced to forty chapters of grotesque monster faces and Casca's breasts.

That was fucked up but I can't bring myself to hate Griffith for some reason.
