I am pretty sure he told him the rules, watch it again and see. Or even if he didn't tell him directly like this one, I'm pretty sure he talked about the height game (? I don't remember well) and the game about colors and Stark actually got the hang of it..
Yep, but he "planned to give Starrk a little hints at a time" and was surprised that Stark figured it out himself. He only told him after Stark already knew what's going on.
EDIT: Ok, I checked it, he told Starrk the rules, just not all of them.

That's how badass people do it, it's just that (to him), killing the enemy while the enemey has no idea on what actually happened is not fun at all ;)But he defeated Stark that way(kind of), at least initially attacked him from behind.
