Bleach Chapter 504 Discussion

It was okay. Typical Bleach battle (one side thinking he easily wins only for the other side to reveal that he was trolling and can actually one-shot the other guy)

Since Choujirou is dead, we won't be figuring it out if the bankai will return or not when you defeat a Stern Ritter that absorbed a bankai.

I don't think we can assume such a thing. After al the bankai is sealed in the medallion not stored in the actual bodies of the Quincy.

Yeah, so it creates possibility to figure out these medalions secret if Yamamoto is to retrieve one.

Or it would be hilarious if everyone expects the bankais to return to owners only to find out that lol-nope, they are lost forever. ;]

I still can't accept the fact that chojiro had bankai, never....chojiro having a bankai is one of the biggest most gigantic asspulls Kubo has ever come up with (aside from Kenpachi beating nnoitra, i mean wtf, Ichigo had to acquire Bankai and Hollowfication to barely win against Grimmjow while Kenpachi killed off nnoiitra without any power-ups at all!). No matter how secretive he was about his bankai, any sane SS officer would have unleashed their true power throughout the winter war (Aizen pretty much fucked up the entire captains)....

Chojirou would have soloed the first and third espada single-handedly if he had joined in the fray....-__-

This was already explained.

Ichigo was unstable due to hollow self inside. as Ulquiorra said, he would go from being INCREDIBLY weak to way stronger than Ulqi at its peak.

Also his power was tied to his emotions and his emotional state worsened through the entire storyline, resulting in his world being flooded.

its only after Jinzen that Ichigo "equalized" his power and regained balance of emotions. the fullbring arc matured him and allowed him to become an adult instead of a teenager, having to face his own darkest fears.

I was afraid that Yama-ji was going to die.  Usually when Kubo does a back story in the midst of a battle, it means their death is inevitable.  (Grimmjow, Gin, etc.)

Buckbeard.

Really liked that we got some backstory.

Maybe this shows that the bankai's that the Sternritter's steal isn't as strong as the original soul reapers bankai?  or maybe i'm just presuming too much.

As Byakuya has talked in his battle against Tsukishima, experience means a lot.

Quincies do not have "experience" that comes with the bankai. Yamamoto has experienced it when Chojiro had it and Chojiro was the one who mastered it.

So yes, it would feel weaker in their hands because they are unable to fully utilize it to its full potential

EDIT: also interesting minor tidbit - according to yama, Chojiro has not used bankai for 200 years. What happened 200 years ago? Quincy-cide. .

another one bites the dust. I'm glad to see these quincies don't have perfect control over the bankai they steal. And we got to see slightly less old yamamoto which was pretty cool. Now back to Urahara......

I wouldn't exactly say perfect control, I think Yamamoto kinda gives the game away near the end of the chapter (page 16-17) Yamamoto states the bankai was not that weak. So I reckon they can steal the bankai but not have it's full strength, they're weaker versions of it.

Oh so quincies are Captain ginyu's brothers? They steal shit but suck at using it?

When will we get the Vasto Lorde or Royal Guards?

I've heard that Kubo said in some interview or sth that all 1-3 Espadas were Vasto Lordes.
