About the reason why that barrier is still up.

We're used in games and such that when a mage character die, the spell he launched before he died disapear but why wouldn't it be impossible for a spell to remain?

I mean that quincy used a spell to bind Ichigo, he basically threw a lot of energy in the form of the seal and even though there's nobody to refill it now why would the barrier go away before it exhausted what energy it has?

I was wondering that too, but it'll probably be explained. I'm just re-read chapter 499, it looks like Ichigo is stuck in the Garaganta with both exits being sealed. It's either Urahara and that guy are waiting for something or they're having trouble with the jail (Kirge's powers), maybe they're trying to figure out how to cancel that technique?

Also I beleive that this is a 'meanwhile' moment and that at the time we see Ichigo struggling against the barrier, that quincy is not dead yet.

Sure Ichigo might be bleeding from self damaging effect of close range Getsuga but the shape of that blood spot is so odd. Too regular and too much like like his hollow mask. It's on the same side Zangetsu had part of Shiro mask too.

Ichigo is undergoing some new transformation or maybe his power weren't fully awakened. To me it looks like during the fullbring arc Ichigo only activated his outer layer of power with his fullbring and some of it was taken by Ginjou. Then he got injected with Gotei reiatsu.

Right now Ichigo might be reaching to the core of his power (the very same place Ginjou wanted to reach).

Also its funny how Ichigo power wanted to protect him back then and now once again Ichigo want's to protect everyone.

One last thing. If Opie was killed by ally to the shinigami. Why is Ichigo still in prison? Who is keeping this prison going? Is it permanent? Is that someone aiming to bring Ichigo to the edge? High level conspiracy?

my 2 cents ^_^

Looks like you're like the only one who's taking things too seriously, I'm pretty sure almost everyone liked that Kenpachi part (check the comments here) Why can't you just enjoy what you read simply? Seriously whenever I see your avatar and name I realize I'm gonna read a bunch of non-sense made by a hater who comments and reads it only to bash it. Oh and btw your profile picture's joke is getting old, check this one it's way better and funnier:

After I read your non-sense I wonder If you had read 2-3 chapters about Kenpachi's fights, would you stop complaining? I don't think so. There are lots of other characters to focus on other than Kenpachi.

Really man? I voice my two cents about the direction of this manga, you come here making a post only about me and I'm the one that's taking things seriously? Man, this isn't certainly the first time somebody here complains about me, I'm starting to think you Bleach fanboys are serious stalkers. Oh, and btw, that Xzibit joke is at least 3 years older than my avatar and it ripped off the avatar from my profile. You really have some poor taste. You don't like it then it's not your thing and that's your opinion, just keep it for yourself, or post some stuff that makes sense, I think that'd be better. There are lots of people out there who enjoy reading/watching it just like with any other anime/manga out there. Serious stalkers you say, if you call going through chapter discussions or checking your profile stalking then maybe I am. Tastes, I believe people have different tastes. A poor one? again, people have different tastes, whether you like someone else's tastes not it's just your opinion.. The direction of the manga, check this out, it might raise your hopes a bit.

And to answer your question, I would be happy if I had my 2-3 chapters with Kenpachi fighting. I'd be estactic if Kubo made such a move. But that's absolutely not the point I was trying to make. In this chapter, Kubo violated the cardinal rule of storytelling, "show don't tell". Meaning a few lines describing how something went isn't as good as showing how those events happened using the POV character describing things first hand.

Now, I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that the fight wasn't important at all because it was about unimportant characters going against a main one, and thus it wasn't worth showing. And I'd say you're right in a way, but that reasoning implies 2 things.

1. Kubo Tite, the author whose magnum opus has been described as "Dragonball Z with swords", knows about the subtleties and intricacies of storytelling.

2. Kenpachi, one of Ichigo's rivals and a diamond point of Soul Society, isn't a character important enough to get at least half a chapter of fight, even with unimportant characters, when Ichigo spent at least five in the same situation as Zaraki.

Maybe in Kubo's opinion Zaraki isn't important enough to even get half a chapter of fight, but it's since his appearance that he's regarded as a pretty important character, so, even if Kubo doesn't like him or he wants to write about other characters, he should at least find some time to show what Kenpachi is doing, at least for his many fans, and half a chapter isn't really that much time for a long running manga.

I thought the fights from the POV of the character was a clever move to avoid dragging out this arc more. Anyway if you take a look at the link I've put above you'd see that Kubo has lots of plans for this arc. Kenpachi is probably gonna be one of the important stuff to talk about in it. Also if you noticed Kenpachi was Kubo's trump card in a lot of situations, this one recently and in the original fillers made by Kubo, so I doubt he hates him, but the opposite. What's going on right now is just an introduction for the Sterrnritter and the Royal Guards who will probably appear after a while to save the day, according to the Omake's that is. I think you'll find some other answers in the link I've mentioned above, the most important one is that in this arc lots of stuff are gonna be revealed and almost every single character will have its time and we'll know more about each of them, their pasts especially.

So, how is this "bunch of nonsense by a hater"? Is this good enough for you to pay attention, or you're going to say "oh those haters like to whine just about, like everything!" like you guys usually do?I would like reading stuff like what you mentioned in the edit and argue about them more than hearing whining without any reasoning, well you just made your point more obvious so let's discuss it.

Seriously? A Quincy transformed into a gorilla while another one transformed into the opponent? Kubo must have mistaken this arc with Arrancar one..

I was thinking the same thing! Then you have the Vandenreich leader who can stop a sword with one arm ala Aizen (although he stopped it with one finger).

- Kenpachi explanations were hilarious. Its hilarious that all three cases pretty much make fun of shonen genre tropes - overbulky transformations, ability exposition chapters and "fighting yourself" plot devices. Its nice to see that at least one out of the big three has some self-awareness about those things and its hilarious and so in-character for Kenpachi. Sadly I do not see Kenpachi handling himself too well in this...Most likely Yamaji will have to step in once he ends dealing with the stealer of Sasakibe's bankai.

So how would you like to explain situation of other captains? Stern Ritter caught a senior captain and took his eye (or at-least injured his face pretty badly). While a very well known and strong captain (at-least strong as much as kenpachi if not more) never even able to touch a single Stern Ritter and bite the dust, while Kanpachi took out three without breaking a sweat.Kubo hinted in the new novels that he'll explain why Kenpachi is growing stronger at a frightening speed.

Byakuya not been able to touch a stern ritter while kenpachi taking out three need some hell of an explaination. Kuchiki clan is one of the the nobel houses in Soul Society. That alone makes him special. Not to mention he was not some cheap captain who supposed to rely completely on his bankai and just because they stole it, he became useless. The only reason i can understand is that Stern Ritters are just too dam strong, BUT Kenpachi taking out three like trash is something like he got DBangai level training in closed space before joining this war.

As I said, Kubo hinted there's gonna be an explanation why Kenpachi is too strong, we hardly know anything about him and his past, we just know he was a homeless who met Yachiru in a place where there was lots of bloodshed, we know nothing more. There's another thing, why does Kenpachi and Ichigo's Zanpakuto maintain their Shikai form? I know the basic explanation, but why only those 2? I think there's a connection between them somehow, not as relatives but as powers. They're also both growing stronger at a great speed. So we'll likely hear explanations about Ichigo and Kenpachi in this arc.

Zaraki does not maintain shikai, as far as I remember his sword is totally unreleased, basically the state it is in when a shinigami first got his sword, before they even learn shikai.

Zaraki doesn't know the name of his zanpakutou, which is the ultimate requirement to learn shikai, even Ichigo had to go with this.

Zaraki doesn't want to work with his zan because he beleive only in his strenght

The thing that make people think that his sword is in shikai is that his sword seem rigged but that's pretty much to show how bad his reiatsu conflict with his zanpakuto's, he doesn't want to fight together with his sword so they both get in each other's way. The whole deal with Ichigo and Zaraki in SS was to show a match about someone that fight alongside his sword (Ichigo) and one that does not (Zaraki), this match would lose it's purpose if Zaraki was in shikai.

For those reason I'll say that Zaraki isn't even using shikai.

He said in chapter 109 that this is his true form of his Zanpakuto, but at that time the Shikai-Bankai concept wasn't explained. When the concept was explained in chapter 120 Ichigo said "So my Zanpakuto is like Kenpachi's? No wonder it's.. " So I guess that means automatically that it's in its released form, aka Shikai. Here are the pages:

Anyway we'll probably get some kind of a detailed explanation in this arc about Kenpachi and his past, there's a reason why he's so strong, let's wait and see.

Only Kubo can write such boring chapters even when he puts fun characters like Kenpachi in it.

"Oh, you know, Kenpachi had this awesome fights where he one-hit killed three named characters, here let me tell you how it happened in half a page? What? You actually want to see the battle and not a few lines of narration?! You fucking whiners are too spoiled for my liking, you complain about everything when actually I'm the awesomest mangaka on earth, as punishment you only get a sword slash from Zaraki, then I'm going to cut to Ichigo's subplot that it's still not moving at all, then I'll tease about a battle with Yamamoto in it, battle that I will show only when I feel like it, and that means the next week as well as the next year. What do you mean you're not my fan anymore?! You guys are never happy about anything I do!!!11!!1!!"
