Only Kubo can write such boring chapters even when he puts fun characters like Kenpachi in it.
"Oh, you know, Kenpachi had this awesome fights where he one-hit killed three named characters, here let me tell you how it happened in half a page? What? You actually want to see the battle and not a few lines of narration?! You fucking whiners are too spoiled for my liking, you complain about everything when actually I'm the awesomest mangaka on earth, as punishment you only get a sword slash from Zaraki, then I'm going to cut to Ichigo's subplot that it's still not moving at all, then I'll tease about a battle with Yamamoto in it, battle that I will show only when I feel like it, and that means the next week as well as the next year. What do you mean you're not my fan anymore?! You guys are never happy about anything I do!!!11!!1!!"Looks like you're like the only one who's taking things too seriously, I'm pretty sure almost everyone liked that Kenpachi part (check the comments here) Why can't you just enjoy what you read simply? Seriously whenever I see your avatar and name I realize I'm gonna read a bunch of non-sense made by a hater who comments and reads it only to bash it. Oh and btw your profile picture's joke is getting old, check this one it's way better and funnier:
After I read your non-sense I wonder If you had read 2-3 chapters about Kenpachi's fights, would you stop complaining? I don't think so. There are lots of other characters to focus on other than Kenpachi.

just wondering but if Ichigo really wanted to break out of there couldn't he just go full hollow? (or even use his hollow mask)
or is it that he can't invoke them anymore...
Well im not sure if it's just me but Ichigo had a line on the left side of his face that looked like his hollow mask against Yammi.
For the 'infinite + 1'th time, Ichigo's power are merged together until some plot twist say otherwhise.
He does not use shinigami power anymore, neither does he use hollow power.
He uses a mix of the two, something that, so far, is 'unique' to him (From our point of view).
He isn't a vaizard anymore, he's a being that transcend both shinigami and hollow.
When both his power were separated and he was only using his shinigami powers, the only way he could use his hollow power was by using those 'hollow attribute' (ie: the mask). Since he was making part of himself hollow he could use his hollow power and thus gained a boost in abilities.
It's totally different now.
Ichigo is not a shinigami anymore, he's much more than that. He's using the totality of his merged power, that include the totality of his hollow power.
Did you ever wonder why Ichigo got so strong before his final fight against Aizen?
There's two time Ichigo was at the peak of his abilities before he fought Aizen:
-When he let Zangetsu handle his body and OHKOed Zaraki with his shikai, I should remind you how Zaraki tanked the 5th espada special cero with his hands. At that moment Ichigo was at the peak of his shinigami power. (Obviously since he let this said power have full control over him)
-When he let Hollow Ichigo take over his body against Ulq (Well we all know that he didn't but Hollow Ichigo took over and Ichigo wasn't fighting back at all unlike let's say when he was fighting against Byakuya or Yami). At that moment Ichigo was at the peak of his hollow power.
These two situation have something in common: The power itself was controlling Ichigo unlike the usual situation where Ichigo is controlling the power.
People have the tendancy to think that Ichigo's hollow power are stronger than his shinigami power because he did unrivaled feat against Ulq but this is probably not right.
The only moment Ichigo was at the peak of his shinigami power he was in shikai meanwhile the only moment Ichigo was at the peak of his hollow power he was in bankai. Bankai is said to increase tenfold it's user reiatsu so we should assume that if Zangetsu used Ichigo's body while in Bankai, his feat would be just as impressive as anything Hollow Ichigo did against Ulq.
Now there's a big problem with that: His power shouldn't be separated. The only reason they were was because Ichigo did not accept the hollow part of his power.
In his dangai training he learned to accept both of his power and he also learned to master them. Those two power that were already ridiculously strong by themselve fused together and became one single power that surpassed any power Ichigo ever had.
That is why Ichigo cannot use his hollow mask anymore. Well technically maybe he could summon a mask but why would he do that? The hollow part of his power as you know it vanished and now there's only a much stronger power that he is currently using. His power is not separated anymore, he cannot use a second power. His power are a whole, one single strong power.
The only reason he did it before was to have access to the hollow part of his power but now he has access to the totality of his new power which is made from the fusion of his shinigami and hollow power, he is technically already using all the power he can muster.
Now the real question is "What is Ichigo?". Being the son of a shinigami does not cut it, his power is way too strong.Let's not forget that when Ichigo faced Nnoitra he had just fought Grimmjow, so you don't really expect him to face 2 Espada after each other and win, at his state at that time he couldn't even defeat Tesla.
Anyway there's probably gonna be an explanation for why Ichigo and Zaraki are getting stronger with each fight. Ichigo's has a connection with his mother and her identity. Zaraki's is about who he is and his past, there's gonna be an explanation for both. There has been a rumor that Aizen was afraid of facing Kenpachi therefore he drove him to HM and went to KT, so there's something about Zaraki that's gonna be explained in this arc, Kubo mentioned he will at the end of the new novel.
