Ok, being serious: I agree that Sasakibe's death only happened to create power hype without Kubo having to kill off anyone of significance. I also kinda think he took the crew back to Hueco Mundo so he had an excuse to draw more squiggly lines for sand, and call it a background.
I'm willing to see where this goes..but still, 2/5

Oh come on.. he just hit him bare handed and knocked him out. You call it 2xCaptain power? He didn't even used his Shikai. Although He used his bankai and hollow powers against Byakuya but he was standing there after getting slashed up and got away after his bankai sword disappeared. Does that mean Byakuya is on the captain commander level? nah.. that would make Ichigo 2xCommander level.I've pointed out a lot of inconsistencies in Kubo's story before... but I'm not sure if I would call Sasakibe's hidden power an inconsistency.
Near the ending of the "Rescue Rukia"-arc... the other two vice-captains didn't have a chance but Sasakibe had time to move his sword arm... until Ichigo stopped that sword with one arm and punched him in the face with the other. Sasakibe was still in the air when Byakuya interfered so we never got a chance to see if he was truly knocked out.

After Sasakibe was sent flying, I don't think he appeared at all until the next arc (I could be wrong, he's easy to miss)... he might have taken a step back of his own will because of the involvement of an official captain, Byakuya.
In any case, the power meter in Bleach can increase and decrease by 9000% over the course of two chapters so it's not worth it keeping a track of it. Zaraki Kenpachi got cut by Ichigo before he even got a bankai (which I find to be a much more annoying power inconsistency, don't care if Zaraki has been training with Yamamoto since then...)

Can't we just agree on the fact, that during SS arc Kubo had no fucking clue that he would ever make Sasakibe look like a strong guy? He just changed his mind about the power lvl, that's it.

I remembered someone saying he took out all of them without any effort, at-least in anime. i think Unohana take all of them with her flying UFO. as he was no where to be found. if he was alright then at-least he supposed to go to captain commander when he was fighting against 2 captains. not because he can help him but just to stay by his side.
All in all, he was weak, just like you said there are inconsistencies in the story. you know i don't care at all if he was weak and now kubo is making him strong. it's just that don't cover it by saying Ichigo was 2xCaptain that's why he knocked him out in one-shot. when he barely got bankai, didn't even know about his hollow powers and had a really hard time against kenpachi, renji and ikaku just few days back.
