Seems Negi is going to get another upgrade, although the decision was instantaneous O_O which makes it feel rushed but oh well.

He is in a form where he can activate Raiten Taisou which would usually need him to absorb the thousand bolt to begin with. You can assume that he can revert to ligthing mode and dark mode whenever he want (Since he is actually doing it), if he become lighting I can't see why the thousand bolt would damage him anyway.

Also Negi's Magia erebea is more and more going on absorbing offensive magic to enchant his body, it wouldn't be strange if he could absorb the recoil of an AoE spell.

No, he still needs to cast the spell and then absorb to revert modes. And you can't absorb something when you already have a spell absorbed. You need to release it first. Negi didn't have a spell absorbed when he equipped the thousand bolts. That was just the base form of his Magia Erebea.

Also his lightning form should only grant "some" immunity. When he arms himself with the Jovis Tempestus spell he got tiny immunity to weather magic. A higher level armament of the same element shouldn't just instantly give him full immunity to lightning.

Honestly I still think my original theory of cutting the spear works fine. Since it's not a bomb the lightning after been cut shouldn't spark in the blind spot where Eva and co are standing. Lightning travels through air current and follows the current (which is how Negi moves in his light form). With the current moving in a straight line due to the spear coming down the lightning AOE shouldn't flow into where Eva is standing because of the air barrier bending outwards due to the spear being split.

Negi should have been stronger now, way stronger and Eva just step in stoping the spear like nothing happened, if you remember in the Rakan vs Negi fight the spear was an AOE spell and it broke the barrier of the arena, I still wonder why Setsuna and Kaede are still up since it was clear that they were near where the spear hitted.

Eva is strong but stopping the spear like that is ridiculous, if she would have came in magia erebea form with a spell rivalising Negi's then it would have made way much sense.

I'm in no way saying that Eva > Negi but this time it was simply ridiculous, it's like she canceled the spear with a single slash with almost no power since she didn't chanted anything or accumulated power (Rakan being able to bring his full power in 5 second was something suposely god-like) Eva had 0 second preparation, she just instant movement-ed and slashed the blast away.

This is just my speculation since you're going emo over this =P.

Here's one way that could make this reasonable. Ever seen a sword cut a bullet in half when fired at it? A bullet is a powerful force yet a sword can cut through it.

Imagine Negi's spear was like a bullet aimed at Setsuna/Kaede and Eva's light saber was a really sharp sword. Cut it in half (doesn't need to be a powerful spell, just needs the right sharpness) and you get a small area of protection that the AOE won't hit. Only the aftereffect of the force should touch you in this case.

This is not reasonable.

This is magic, his spear is basically a big bomb that'll explode upon contact, try cutting C4 going at a bullet speed with a sword and see what'll happen.

I know what you mean but this is not a real life situation, you can't bring physic in a manga where people can fly, teleport and spam blast able to destroy a small village.

Ah I love Eva even more now lol. Naked, playing NES and eating chips. That's how a girl should be.

I think that it was ridiculous that Eva just blocked Negi's spear like that without even using Magia erebea, I mean that was a move that could delete almost every character even more when Negi is in this state. I know that Eva is strong but blocking it that easely is pushing it imo.

I don't think so. Eva has lived for a very long time. She is immortal as well. She has experience, power and immortality. Can't argue with those odds.

As for the evil controlling Negi. I'll admit I'm disappointed a little. I would have preferred that his dark magic was like poison taking his life instead of a demon taking over him.

What's like bleach?

He's referring to Negima trying to control his dark side. It's like when Ichigo tried to control the hollow within him. Which is true but different circumstances. Similar but different.

And you can't bring logic in a manga where people can fly, teleport and spam blast able to destroy a small village =P. Bullshit. You CAN bring in logic what you CAN't bring in is physics. Basically what I mean by this is the logic of the series should be INTERNALLY consistent.

Just no

honestly though, this has been a series of power-ups for negi for a while now. it just so happens that the accompanying story is engaging.

it is good to see that they do this well enough otherwise it would feel bland....like bleach.

Good to see Setsuna out of that suit (I hate seeing her in those types of clothing!)

Good to see Eva again  (she stole my idea of playing NES naked while eating chips)

NO, NO, NO!!!

Bleach = never ending, battle-happy 100% shounen

Negima = mixed genres with 1 million middle school girls thrown into the story.

Negi did break the barrier of the arena which resist Rakan's attack (Well I'm sure if he wanted he could destroy the barrier too) but that's just to say that the AoE from the spear is nothing to laugh at.

Instead of looking at how Eva survived that blow effortlessly, lets look at Negi. How did Negi avoid the AOE then? I mean he was pretty close.
